Herbert A. "Doc" Wellman of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Brookdale Senior Living, surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old. Herbert was born on April 17, 1922 in Saginaw, to the late John and Anna (Mack) Wellman. He married the love of his life, Ruth A. Roeglin on Sweetest Day, October 16, 1943 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2003. Doc was employed as a supervisor with General Motors, retiring in 1984 after 42 years of dedicated service. He was a faithful charter member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Doc was also a member of the SSG/Delphi Salaried and Alumni Club, American Legion Post #439 and the VFW.

Surviving are two daughters and a son: Caryn (James) Hodges, Diane Damsen and Kendall (Anne) Wellman all of Saginaw; nine grandchildren: Carrie, Cory and Cris Hodges, Jodi (Dan) Decuf, Aimee (Aaron) Stevens, Matt Damsen and his fiancée, Kelly Lutenski, Stephanie (Patrick) Laatsch, Kendra (Marcus) Henline and Benjimen Wellman ; 12 great grandchildren with one little angel on the way; and four sisters-in-law: Marie Wellman, Marge Schneider, Lois Roeglin and Arlene (Robert) Lee.

He was preceded in death by two sons-in-law: Joseph Blanke and Ronald Damsen; a grandson, Jamie Lynn Hodges; three brothers: Louis, Charles and his identical twin brother, Urban Wellman; four sisters: Rosella Gudritz, Marie Whelton, Louise Brookins and Stella Polak.

A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. James G. Heller will officiate. Military Honor's and Rite of Committal will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of American Legion Post #439.

Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m Friday evening. Herbert will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
