Edward was a son of James Billingsley Hefling and Nellie Carlotta McGowan. He married in West Virginia in 1929 to Miss Jean Forbes. They lived at Dayton where Edward worked for the Air Force. They were divorced in 1946 and remarried in 1962. He was a veteran of WWII. Edward was sick about two years before he died at the Licking Memorial Hospital. He and Jean had no children.
