Charles Ishmel Alderman, 53, of Murfreesboro, formerly of Sparta, passed away Dec. 15, 2008, at Veterans Administration Hospital, in Murfreesboro.

Alderman was born Nov. 30, 1955, in Harlen, Ky., to Charles Dale Alderman and Edna Clarice Lewis Alderman.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran.

Alderman was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gail Gilley.

Survivors include his son, Charles Ian Alderman, of Alabama; three sisters, Edna Dille, of Sparta, Judy Wood, of Crossville, Debby Boone, of Murfreesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be noon, Dec. 18, 2008, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Bolin Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Ray will officiate.

Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
