John Leland Whitaker, 78, died Friday, Jan. 13, 1995, at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Ind. He was born in Trimble County, Ky. He was a former maintenance worker for
King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Trinity Holiness Tabernacle and Vevay American Legion and VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sherman and Florence E. Tingle Whitaker; four brothers, Norman, Walton, Floyd and Willie Whitaker; sister, Mabel Roberts, and three grandchildren.He is survived by his daughter, LaVerne Larsen of Interlachen; sister, Erby E. Adams of Vevay, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Friday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, Ind., with Rev. Ronald Sandidge officiating. Burial will follow at Vevay Cemetery. A flag presentation by the Vevay Armerican Legion and VFW will be bestowed. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 6 Jan 1995.)
