KERRVILLE - Lois Elizabeth (Cooper) Stanowski, 82, of Kerrville, entered into eternal rest on March 11, 1999, in Kerrville, Texas. Born April 3, 1916, in Dry Fork, W. Va., she married Merchant Marine Capt. Stanislaus J. Stanowski on Oct. 12,1943, in Almeda, Calif. They lived there and in New York before moving to Houston where they lived until 1997, when they moved to Kerrville. In Houston, Lois was a very loving, stay-at-home mother, dedicated to raising their five children and being the neighborhood nurse as well. She was a very active member and volunteer of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish and school for many years. Then, her nursing career resumed when she became an employee of Memorial Baptist Southeast Hospital in Houston as head nurse of the newborn nursery. After retirement, Lois continued to volunteer at the Memorial Baptist Southwest Hospital and at a Catholic bookstore until illness prevented it. She is survived by her husband, Stan Stanowski, of Kerrville; and their five children: son, Ted Stanowski and his wife, Deb, of Clear Lake; son, Chuck Stanowski and hia wife, Hildegarde of Frankfurt, Germany; daughter, Connie, and her husband, Joe Dwayne Smith, of Mountain Home; daughter, Mary, and her husband, Richard Wingfield, of McKinney; daughter, Cathy, and her husband, Alan Scott Taylor; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; brother, Eston Cooper of Dry Fork, W. Va.; sister, Ada Clancy, of Lake Helen, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Kerrville Funeral Home. A requiem mass will be held on Monday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kerrville, with the Rev. Mike Boulette officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kerrville. The Kerrville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
