The funeral for Claris Nolen Roberson, 98, of Collinsville, who died Dec. 29, 2008, at her home, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Collinsville. The Rev. Larry Cheek will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett.
She was born in Woolwine on Nov. 24, 1910, to Walter Edward Nolen and Melissie Ellen Nolen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brown W. Roberson; three sisters, Clynda Nolen Ross, Gatha Nolen Frazier and Alice Nolen Pilson; and two brothers, Gordon Lee Nolen and Dalton Edward Nolen.
Roberson had worked in the Henry County and Patrick County school systems for many years and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy E. Roberson of Newark, Del.; a son, Ralph L. Roberson of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Clovis Nolen Gooding of Arlington and Rose Nolen Bryant of Clermont, Ga.; two grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett.
