LOWERY Ron Lowery of Coden, AL. passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 after a brief illness. Ron was born on February 25, 1929, the son of Russell and Mildred Lowery. He grew up in Mobile with his sisters Janet and Betty, and he graduated from Spring Hill College. He was in graduate school at LSU when he was called up to join the army in the early 1950s. He served his country for several years, and upon his return from service began a long career in the telecommunications industry that eventually led him to the role of VP and Chief Engineering Officer of Siemens Corporation's Telecommunications Engineering Division. He led the division's operations in Boca Raton, FL. until his retirement in the 1980s. Ron loved music, books, poetry, food, tennis, sailing, and all of the beautiful things that this world has to offer. Most of all, though, he loved his family. He and Toni, his wife of 51 years, lived a life that took them from Washington DC - where they first met - to Paris, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Florida, and eventually back to Alabama, where they have lived in Coden for 16 years. He loved to tell the story of how he knew the first time he saw her that he was going to marry her. They loved to travel together, and spent countless months driving around the country with no timeline and no real plan. He said that after seeing the world for so many years from 30,000 feet in the air due to business travel, he loved finally having the time to see it from the ground. Ron and Toni have three children, Lisa, Ron Jr. and Mary, who have never once doubted the fact that they hit the jackpot in having the world's greatest dad. Ron was truly one-of-a-kind - the type of person whose presence filled a room when he walked in to it - and the world is a much brighter place for his having spent 84 years here. Although filled with sorrow at having lost him, his family is grateful for having had him for so many years. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mildred. He is survived by his wife Antoinette (Toni); children, Lisa (Chip) Page, Ron Jr. (Denese) and Mary; grandchildren, Colin, Corey, Rusty, Carson, Jenna and Jackson; sisters, Janet Gilder and Betty (Johnny) Jones; and many nieces, nephew, and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 1, 2013 at 12 noon at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Heron Bay. Visitation will be 9 am until service time. Interment will be in Dorlon Cemetery in Heron Bay.
