Teresa L. (Sharer) Benoit, 61, of rural Laurel, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday April 1, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to CIRSI of Marshalltown or Diabetes Association. Teresa L. Sharer was born on January 17, 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the daughter of Jack and Lucille (Merritt) Sharer. Teresa graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1970, and then attended Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, Iowa, and graduated from the art program 1976. She was united in marriage to Art[hur] Benoit at Central Christian Church. They shared the love of art, and travel. Teresa loved to garden, and fish, and enjoyed the out of doors; she also loved being a devoted aunt. Teresa had a great love for animals.

Left to cherish her memory are her brothers: Jack Sharer, and Michael (Susan) Sharer, all of Marshalltown, Iowa. Nieces and nephews: Martin (Karen) Sharer of Marshalltown; Julie Sharer of Marshalltown, Iowa; Angelene (Dave) Fouch, of Altoona, Iowa, Melissa (John Pieters) Sharer of rural Laurel. Great-nieces and nephews: Ryan of Waterloo, and Katie Sharer of Marshalltown; Joel and Taylor Fouch, of Altoona; and step-great-nephews: Brock and Lincoln Pieters. [Step-daughters: Renee Benoit of San Francisco, Calf., Antoinette (Benoit) Barnes of Thornton, Colo.; step-son, Raoul Benoit of North Liberty; and step-father, Willis "Bill" Skipton, of Laurel, Iowa.]

In death Teresa rejoins her parents: Jack and Lucille, and husband, Art and sister-in-law, Jean Sharer.
