Robert Anson Holcomb died at 2 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010, in Marietta, Georgia, at the home of his eldest son. He was 92 years old.

Bob was born on September 25, 1917, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Arden Benjamin Holcomb and Etholin Cartwright Holcomb.

He was a graduate of Michigan State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

He and his late wife, Kathryn Green Holcomb, were residents of Waynesboro, Virginia, since 1955, and were formerly of Schenectady, New York.

Bob retired from General Electric in 1979 after 41 years of service. During his life he was an avid outdoorsman with a love of canoeing, camping, hiking and bicycling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Green Holcomb; and his sister, Mary Holcomb Slagel.

Survivors include his sister, Ann Holcomb Bushnell of St. Paul, Minnesota; his daughter, Barbara L. Holcomb of Safety Harbor, Florida; his son, Dr. Scott B. Holcomb and his wife, Dr. Rosemary Sale Holcomb, with their children Kelly, Kathryn, Kimberly and Thomas of Marietta, Georgia; and his son, Christopher A. Holcomb and his wife, Gloria McCormick Holcomb, and their sons Ryan and Austin of Alpharetta, Georgia.

The family will hold a private service at his final resting place in Riverview Cemetery, Waynesboro, Virginia.
