Obituary in The Eagle, Reading, PA, 14 Aug 1939: Andrew Simon Wentzel died yesterday at his home, 1739 Centre avenue, aged 86 years. He was formerly employed as a carpenter by L.H. Focht & Son, and was a charter member of the Carpenters Union. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Surviving are his widow, Emma (Gehris) Wentzel; eight children, Catharine, wife of John R. Gaul, this city; Andrew, at home, and Harry F., Daniel J., Leo T., Bernard G., James J., and John F. Wentzel, all of this city; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Hinkel, this city, and two brothers, Jacob of Harrisburg, and John, of Norristown. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St. Paul's Catholic Church on Thursday at 9 a.m. Interment will be made in Gethsemane Cemetery. The Kern Funeral Home has charge.
