BELOVED WOMAN PASSES TO REST
After a lingering illness, Mrs Mary Agnes, beloved wife of William J Hanlon died at the family home in Tuolumne on the night of the 23rd inst.
Mrs Hanlon was a member of the well known and extensive Gurney family whose pioneer members were prominent in commercial and industrial affairs of this county 50 years ago. Her parents were the late Mr and Mrs Elisha Gurney who once conducted the hotel at Sugar Pine in the early days when the limited lumber industry was in full swing. During a brief stay at Bridgeport she was born there 44 years ago. Marrying Mr Hanlon, who for many years was associated with Pickering Lumber Co as logging crew foreman, she bore him three children. About ten years ago her health commenced to fall despite the skill of doctors . The community sorrows with this ideal family in their loss, and with the five brothers and sisters of the deceased.
The funeral was conducted Monday morning from the family home in Tuolumne by Undertaker O'Beirne. The remains were taken to the St Patrick church in Sonora where Rev James Gilmartin celebrated a requiem mas for the repose of the soul of the deceased. Internment was in the Mountain View cemetery.
