A US Passport Application shows Elizabeth went to live in Florence, Italy in 1923. She died in the convent of Villa San Girolamo, in Fiesole, a town in the province of Florence in the Italian region of Tuscany, Italy.
The American consular 'Report of Death of American Citizen Abroad' reads:
"Cremated and Ashes deposited in Allory Cemetery, Florence."
It listed her niece Wilhelmina Goodloe as her next of kin, d/o Elizabeth's maternal half-sister Mary Elizabeth (Man) Goodloe.
A conflicting disposition of her ashes comes from a Lexington, KY newspaper:
"Miss Elizabeth Combs at age of 79 of Lexington dies in convent in Florence, Italy. Sister of Hon. Leslie Combs. Body to be cremated and ashes sent to Lexington." [02-17-1931 Herald p. 1 col. 3]
Both sources agree Miss Combs was cremated.
