The Axford genealogy also lists him as being John Axford IV, again to distinguish him from other John Axfords and to denote his position as the 4th generation of the John Axford name.
His first wife was Sarah DeCue or DeCou, daughter of John and Jane (Thatcher) DeCue/DeCou. She died in Oxford, Warren, New Jersey on Sept 3, 1824. John's son, Abraham, linked below, is from his marriage with Sarah DeCue/DeCou. The other two linked children are from his marriage to Charity Johnson.
