Victor was the son of Louisa Mary Farney Dewig Hisker, (1880-1959) and William Joseph Francis "Frank" Dewig, (1876-1910).

The following is a partial obituary:
"Victor "Pop" Dewig, 92, of Evansville, died at 9 p.m. Saturday at Deaconess Hospital.

He was a salesman for Eades Bakery for 20 years and owned and operated several grocery stores in Evansville.

He was a member of the Eagles, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in the county.

He sponsored the first basketball team at St. Joseph Catholic Grade School. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
