July 1962 - The Greenville Piedmont
Mrs. Elmina Masters Lister, 76, of State Park Road, Rt. 5, Greenville, widow of A. J. Lister, died at a local hospital Sunday at 4:30 a.m., after two weeks of serious illness and a long period of declining health.
Born in Greenville county March 14, 1886, she had spent her entire life here, and for four years had made her home on State Park Road. Her parents were the late Floyd and Zealy Cassell Masters, natives of South Carolina.
Her husband died February 25, 1952.
Mrs. Lister was a member of Faith Holiness Baptist Church and of the Mothers' Class of the Sunday School.
Surviving are three daughters, Miss Helen Lister, Miss Gladys Lister, and Mrs. Jack Hicks, all of Greenville; five sons, W. Herman Lister, John F. Lister, Alton C. Lister, Louie B. Lister, and Robert L. Lister, all of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Mary McJunkin of Pickens; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home by Rev. T. R. Teague, Rev. Belvin Greene, Rev. W. O. Weathers and Rev. J. A. Cave. Burial will be in Mountain Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Hovie Lister, Charles Lister, Jack Lister, Bobby Joe Lister, David Lister and Danny Lister.
The escort of honor will be composed of nurses of the sixth floor at Greenville General Hospital, Dr. J. E. Crosland, Dr. Lawrence Crowl, Dr. John Muller, O. W. Hicks, C. A. Cooper, Henry Hall, Bill Tollison, Carl Lancaster, J. W. Welch, Wamsley Walker, Jess Parham, Charles Childers Sr., Rev. J. W. Kelley, Everett Watson, Coleman Keenan, Sloan Rainey, Crawford Rainey, Bud Cook, Grover Hester, Tom Stoner and Alvin Moon.
The body will be at the home on State Park Road at 2 p.m. today.
