Axel Harold Anderson, 91, longtime resident of Duluth, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007, while at the Silver Bay Veterans Home. He was born March 26, 1916 in Wright, Minn., to Oscar and Olga Anderson. Axel attended Denfeld High School. He was a World War II Veteran having served as a Staff Sergeant with the 380th Bomber Group, in the South Pacific. On Aug. 22, 1947, Axel married Hilda Ellen Mattila. He worked for Northwest Paper, Cloquet, Spot T.V., and retired from Superwood. Axel was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Hilda on March 1, 2007; his parents; two brothers, Oliver and Evert; and a sister, Linnea. He is survived by his brother, George (Fern) Anderson and a sister, Esther Anderson, all of Carlton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. VISITATION:1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, July 11 at the Bell Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Wright, Minn.
