He was born in Port Arthur on October 12, 1925 to Arthur W. and Daphane Hancock Hawkins.
Art was a life long resident of this area and was a 40 year employee of DuPont Sabine River Works in Orange, Texas. Art was a faithful member of the Lutheran faith, serving as President, Treasure, Secretary and Council member at St. John's. He was also a member of the Lakeview Lions club and was a veteran of the Army Air-Corp during WWII.
Art was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Robert A. Simmons.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty and daughter Susan Brown and her husband Ken and his best friend Fred Brown.
Graveside funeral service will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
