Walter and Mary Adams had eight children of their own. Mary's sister Elizabeth died as a result of the Spanish Flu in 1918. After Elizabeth's death, her husband, William, left the state and left his kids with Walter and Mary. They reared William and Anna May Cochran until they were grown. Walter was the mayor of Hays, Pa. during the 1920's before it was taken into the City of Pittsburgh, Pa. He was a supervisor for Duquesne Power & Light Company. He was the son of John & Mary Adams of Pittsburgh, Pa.Walter T. Adams, last mayor of Hays, PA before town was taken into Pittsburgh, PA.

Walter was born in Braddock, PA on Dec 16, 1872 and died Aug 29, 1949. He married Mary Brennen and they became the parents of eight children and adopted two more.

The children included: Frank, John, Tom, Walter, Jr., Margaret, Mary, Rose, and Elizabeth. The adopted children were Anna May Cochran and her brother, William John Cochran.

He and his wife, Mary Brennen (1878-1960), lived at 486 Ashby St., Hays, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. Their house was torn down in the 1950s to make way for Route 885.
