DEATH OF RENICK CRIST
Renick Crist, who had been very ill for some time, passed away Sunday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ada Smith. Services were conducted at the Hopewell Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon, with Undertaker R.J.A. Bram in charge. Interment was in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Rev. C.F.D. Arnold of Liberty officiated at the service and read the following obituary:
Renick Madison Crist, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Crist, was born March 12, 1855, southeast of Hamilton and passed away May 13th, 1934, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 1 day.
Mr. Crist was united in marriage to Elizabeth Floyd in 1883, who passed away February 13, 1900. To this union were born eight children. John Wesley died in infancy and Walter passed away in Eugene, Oregon, June 17, 1924. Surviving are six children, twenty-nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The children are Will Crist and Mrs. Ada Smith of Hamilton; Mrs. Gertie Cox of Springhill, Kansas; Mrs. Mettie Cox, Wellsville, Kansas; and Riley and Henry Crist of Bronaugh, in southwest Missouri.
Mr. Crist spent his entire life in Caldwell County, except about twelve years residence in Kentucky. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church for many years. The deceased had been failing the past nine years, but his condition became much worse the past winter until death released his suffering. He was tenderly cared for by his children during his long illness. To them is left a heritage of rich remembrance in death of this good man.
He has run his course
He has laid the burden down
He awaits the righteous judgment
For the everlasting crown.
