Barbara Kay Addie, age 69, of Spencer, passed away at the Hospice House on Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
Barbara was born in Spencer on January 13, 1944 to the late Donald and Bessie (Carpenter) Ranard. She married the love of her life, Andrew Addie, and they celebrated 50 years together. Barbara worked for AECT as a secretary and in the past held a proofreader position at Baugh Enterprises, Unipub, and Tichenor Publishing. Barbara also worked at IUPD as dispatcher. She was a big fan of country music and enjoyed singing and dancing. Family was very important to Barbara and she created many memories with them canning, gardening, and traveling. She attended the Salem Baptist Church.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Andrew "Andy" Addie; children, Lea Kay Sherfield (Tim) of Bloomington, Mechelle Denise Phillips of Spencer, and Scott Andrew Addie (Susan) of Gosport; grandchildren, Anthony Scott Addie of Gosport, Casey Jo Phillips of Spencer, Shelby Kay Sherfield Grubb of Terre Haute, Whitney MaKay Addie and Savanah Malarie Addie, both of Gosport, and Destiny Dawn Sherfield of Bloomington; siblings, Ronald James Ranard of Spencer, Donald Eugene Ranard of Vandalia, Carolyn Lewis of Bloomington, Judith Harris and Mary Lee Ranard, both of Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Jeff Parker officiating. Burial follows at Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
