Jason was born June 1832 near Gurley, Alabama. He enlisted 16 December 1862 at Huntsville, Alabama. He was captured in February 1865 and imprisoned at Nashville, Tennessee until the close of the war. He was a good christian and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Jason died 1 November 1903 at his home one mile west of Gurley. His funeral was held on Monday at Kings Graveyard at Haden, Alabama. Rev. Orman of Gurley conducted the service.

**Her exact death is not known only that in the 1900 Census it shows that he had a new wife and been married 7 years. It further shows they had 6 of 7 children alive, which must be from this first marriage, if they had been from 1893-1900 they would have been listed in the Census, and only the last child Richard is listed there from Feb 1894
