PIONEER S. F. LAWYER BURIED

SAN FRANCISCO, May 5. - Funeral services were held here today for John F. Davis, 70, pioneer San Francisco attorney, former superior court judge and past president of the Grand Parlor, Native Sons of the Golden West, who died at his home, 1430 Masonic avenue, Saturday, after an illness of several weeks.

Davis was born on Angel Island in San Francisco bay. After graduating from Harvard university he received his law degree from Hastings College of Law. He was appointed superior judge of Amador county by Governor Markham. He later served as state senator from Calaveras, Alpine, Mono, and Amador counties. In 1902 he was appointed county commissioner of California by Governor George Pardee.

Davis was an authority on California history and the author of the book, "California, Romantic and Resourceful." He was a member of the Bohemian, Commonwealth, and Harvard clubs here.

He is survived by a widow, a brother, E. A. Davis, a sister, Margaret, and four children, John Parks, Janet Davis, Mrs. Leland S. Lathrop, Jr., and Mrs. Walter Busher.

SAN FRANCISCO, May 5. - Funeral services were held here today for John F.
