The sweet gentle spirit of Richard Gene "Ricky" Islakar, 60, formerly of Lovington, left the earthly world on March 26, 2013 at 10:15 p.m. at his home in Sullivan Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery, Lovington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moultrie County Beacon Special Olympics, Box 406 Sullivan, IL 61951. Ricky was born in Decatur, January 18, 1953, the son of Henry and Mary (Rhodes) Islakar. Ricky was a member of the Lovington Church of God, a member of the Sons of Legion, Lovington. Ricky loved the St. Louis Cardinals, fishing, keeping weather reports (Sunrise and Sunset); bowling (Special Olympics) he was the captain of his float boat, and he was proud to raise the American flag. He was thrilled to see the space launch and all the boats. He loved vacations, family get-togethers, and especially eating. He never met a stranger and had a ready smile. He will be truly missed by his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his loving sister, Kris Wagahoft of Decatur; niece, Michelle Brown of Decatur; nephew, Michael (Barb) Ryan of Decatur; great nieces and nephews, Miranda, Maryssa, Mariah, and Mykaela Brown, Stephen and Sean Ryan. He is also survived by many special cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Stephen, brother-in-law Bill Wagahoft. The family would like to give special thanks to Beth (his house mother) and his family at his Worth St. C.I.L.A. Home, the staff and many friends at the Moultrie County Beacon.
