In Loving Memory
Annie Elizabeth "Lizzie" Goss was born to John W Goss and Susie Pinkston Goss. Lizzie's mother died when she was about 5 years old. Her father's sister, Sammie that married George Brewer had a daughter Cora Elizabeth that married Henry Albert Welch. Cora and Henry helped to raise Lizzie. Lizzie's mother Susie had been married and had 3 children by her first husband William Henry Hagan. Susie later married Berry Webb and Oscar Willie Webb was born September 13, 1908. Lizzie was not raised knowing her half-brother, Shirley(Wm Henry Jr had died) and sister, Carrie.
Lizzie married John Crawford Hall in Indianola, Sunflower Co., MS on April 17, 1919. They farmed for a living. They had several children born from the Chickasaw County area to the Bolivar County area where they settled in the home place by 1927. They had 8 boys and one girl, my mother, Mary Lerlene Hall. She had a twin brother, Marvin Eugene Hall.
Lizzie gave birth to 9 children, in her first marriage.
She had no other children. John Crawford Hall died January 16,1936 in King's Daughters Hospital, Greenville, MS, from lobar pneumonia - pneumonia affecting one or more lobes of the lung; commonly due to streptococcal infection
pneumonia - respiratory disease characterized by inflammation of the lung parenchyma (excluding the bronchi) with congestion caused by viruses or bacteria or irritants
double pneumonia - lobar pneumonia involving both lungs.

Lizzie married a very kind and caring man and stepfather, Ollie Eugene "Gene" McGaugh, March 5, 1937 at Cleveland, Bolivar Co., MS. Gene battled throat cancer for several years. Gene died September 8, 1943, at the "home place".
She married to widower, Thomas Harper, September 8, 1945, Greenville, Washington Co., MS. He passed away 1952.
Lizzie married the fourth time to John M Mason, March 27, 1953. They divorced in 1959.
Lizzie's last husband was William V McDuffie. They married in Greenville, January 4, 1960.
Lizzie died from congestive heart failure and diabetes in what was then called General Hospital,now Delta Regional, Greenville, Washington Co., MS and is buried at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, in the section D Garden of the Resurrection.

Mrs. William McDuffie, 58, of 525 Delta Street, died in General Hospital at 1:20 a.m. today where she had been ill for a week.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Wells Funeral Home by the Rev. Frank Smith of the Church of God Prophecy. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. McDuffie was born at Mathiston, Miss., and had lived in Greenville for nine years.

Survivors include her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Cross of Greenville and eight sons, Eugene Hall, Henry Hall and Wayne Hall, all of Houston, Texas; Joe Hall of Little Rock, Ark., Cecil Hall and Arnold Hall, both of Greenville; Guthery Hall of the U.S. Air Force in Little Rock, Ark., and Elgy Hall of Fort Wells, Air Force Base, Texas. She also leaves 28 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
