He was born July 6, 1918, in Dennis, Miss., to Gerome L. and Delia Sartain Maxwell. He was a member of the Ardmore First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Freemon F. Maxwell and Flaves Maxwell; and two sisters, Flonnie Ford and Letra Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Eddis Maxwell; one son, Larry F. Maxwell of Elkmont; one daughter, Elaine Lindelof of Pulaski, Tenn.; one brother, Bobby Maxwell of Dennis, Miss.; two sisters, Florene Ables and Lavelle Hawkins, both of Dennis, Miss.; four grandchildren, Michael Maxwell, Theresa Rutledge, Rob Lindelof and Tiffany Lindelof; and seven great-grandchildre
