Born in Garwood, Mr. Boyton lived in the Westfield-Mountainside area all his life.
He was an army veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW Post 333 in Cranford and Amvets of Woodbridge.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cranford.
Mr. Boyton was a truck driver for Adase Trucking Company.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet T. Boyton; a son, Harold W. of North Plainfield; seven daughters, Mrs. Sandra Herlick of Westfield, Mrs. Catherine Czaya and Mrs. Donna Spotawitz, both of Carteret, Mrs. Nancy Murray of Lake Hopatcong, Mrs. Frances Stine of Pennington, Mrs. Harriet Buhr of Toms River and Mrs. Ruth Cadden of Irvington; two brothers, Charles of Scotch Plains and James of Westfield; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Kaiser of Kenilworth, Mrs. Margaret Faucher of Lawrence Harbor, Mrs. Jean Amoroso of Kenilworth and Mrs. Patricia Wheat of Great Bend, Kansas; 14 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad St., with the Rev. Albert Beemer of the
Community United Methodist Church of Roselle officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
