Paul S. Grosshuesch, age 89, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, town of Newton, Manitowoc. The Rev. Kyle Sorensen will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Paul was born July 31, 1915, son of the late William and Ella Dill Grosshuesch, in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County. He attended Manitowoc County Public Schools and was confirmed by the Rev. Robert Klaudt at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in April 1930. He married the former Kathryn Schmitz on Oct. 19, 1940, and together they farmed the Grosshuesch Homestead in Newton. In 1968, he bought an insurance agency, which he operated until 1991. In 1972, his wife Kathryn died, and on July 20, 1974, he married the former Erma Peck Steffen at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. They continued to live on the Grosshuesch farm until 1977 when they moved to Sheboygan.

Paul was a lifelong member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church. He was a consistory member, serving as deacon and elder for 29 years and a member of the church choir for 61 years. He was active in local community affairs as a member of the Newton Fire Department for 15 years and the local District #9 School Board for several terms.

Paul is survived by two daughters: Barbara (Tom) Erdman, Wausau; Susan Grosshuesch, Kewaunee; one son: John (Jaime) Grosshuesch, Hood River, Ore.; one stepdaughter, Nancy (Robert) Clark, Portage, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Daniel, Peter, John, Andrew, Amanda, Donna, Brandon; six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Gertrude Kiesow, Elenor Stuebbe and Doris Bruckschen. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife: Erma; one brother: Calvin; two sisters: Esther Voss and Dolores Specht.

Relatives and friends may call at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church.
