A funeral service for Sarah Jane Patch, 72, of Zanesville, formerly of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald E. Myers officiating.

Mrs. Patch, who retired from the Newark Air Force Base, died Nov. 12, 2002, at her residence. She was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Cumberland, to the late Thomas Chelmer and Sarah Belle (Phelps) Yoho.

She is survived by her sons, Perl Edwin Careins Jr., George Alan Careins and Ronald Jay Careins, all of Newark, Charles Richard (Cathy) Careins of Midland, Texas, and Billy Kyle (Amista) Careins of St. Louisville; daughters, Linda Sue (DeWitt) Gause and Sandra May (Murray) Stuart, both of Newark, Crystal Jane (George) Careins of St. Louisville, and Anita Kay (George) Clark and Sarah Belle (Bill) Metcalf, both of Zanesville; sisters, Mary Johnson of Nebraska, and Mabel Fitzgerald of Reinersville; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and beloved pet, Baby Ann.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Charles Yoho; sister, Arlene Mitik; one infant sister; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 383 Main St., Duncan Falls.
