Waverly Journal, Date Unknown

Alice E. Turner was born July 8, 1844, and died in Waverly Wednesday, November 3, 1920. Her parents came to Waverly in 1850, and she grew to womanhood here. She was the oldest of four children, her brother Albert Turner, and sister Mrs. Clara Paige having preceded her in death.

In 1884 she was united in marriage to Alexander McLeod of Toronto, Kansas, where they lived until 1893, moving from there to Springfield, Ill. Since 1911 Mrs. McLeod has made her home with her sister, Mrs. Ida Wells, in this city.

She gave her heart to Christ in early life, and always lived a devoted Christian life. For three years her health had not permitted her to be active in the work of the church which she so much loved, but her interest was there to the last. To know her was to love her.

Funeral services were held at the residence Friday morning, November 5th, at 11 o'clock, Rev. W. F. Huff, pastor of the Christian church officiating. Interment was in East cemetery.
