Beamer B. Butler Hicks, 87, of Schaumburg, Ill., formerly of Hinton, died Sun., Apr. 18, 1993, in a Chicago, Ill., hospital following a long illness. Born Oct. 6, 1905, in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Newton and Mary Thompson Butler. Mrs. Hicks had lived most of her life in Summers County. She was a retired Summers County school teacher with 46 years of service and was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church, Powelys Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orbey A. Hicks, in 1958; one brother and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Lewis of Schaumburg; six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Fri. Apr. 23 at the Freedom Baptist Church, Powleys Creek, with Pastor George Cook officiating. Burial followed in the Valley View Cemetery, Powleys Creek. The body was at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton and at the church.
