Margaret (Maggie) Boehm, 82, Mandan, passed on to be with her loving husband July 25, 2011, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Kenneth Phillips as celebrant. Burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 1 to 9 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish rosary/vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

Margaret was born Dec. 4, 1928, to John and Veronica (Schaff) Boehm in Odense. On Oct. 3, 1949, she married Constantine Boehm in Mandan.

Margaret was a woman of strong convictions whether it was her faith, her family, but above all, her generosity. An enduring quality was her dedication to her parents, caring for them at the young age of 24 when Margaret's mother died, and at the age of 26 when her father died. Her quiet but strong and generous character was displayed at an early age when she, her father and brother won foot races, using the winnings to buy ice cream for the other members of the family. She was known for her German potato salad which would be served at many cherished family gatherings. Her talents also included crocheting and embroidery which resulted in many afghans, doll dresses and hand towels, all of which she proudly presented to grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she enjoyed card games. Her love for the outdoors and nature was evident in vegetable and flower gardening. Her enjoyment of camping and especially fishing, at which she was very successful, was well-known. During a trip to the west coast in 2004, at age 75, she enjoyed deep sea salmon fishing. These cherished memories will be held in our hearts.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Darlene (Herb) Frohlich and Donna (Francis "Hoopy") Hopfauf, both of Mandan; son, Donald J. (Peggy) Boehm, Mandan; 12 grandchildren, Dean Frohlich, Doug (Sarah) Frohlich, Jesse (Shelly) Frohlich, Ross (Melissa) Frohlich, Kim (Chad) Hornberger, Brian (Karen) Boehm, Christina (Ryan) Utley, Nyla Boehm, Nicole Julson, Steve (Jen) Boehm, Dave Boehm and Maran Hopfauf; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in law, Janice Boehm, Ridgefield, Wash., and Virginia Boehm, Washington, Agnes Kopp, Florence Kopp, and Karen Boehm; and brother-in-law, Robert Thielke, Castle Rock, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Constantine, who passed away in 2001; her parents; son, Dennis C. Boehm; sisters, Katie (Adam) Boehm, Pauline (Thomas) Wetsch, Delores Thielke, Monica (Glenn) Finck; brothers, Joe (Jenny), Henry and Peter Boehm; and two grandchildren, Leslie and Robert Boehm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
