OBITUARY -
William J. Bishop, 64 years old Caribou farmer and potato shipper died February 18 in the Cary Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries suffered Thursday when he fell through a scuttle in a potato house.
He was born in Four Falls, New Brunswick, the son of the late Benjamin & Ellen (Sughrue) Bishop. he moved to Caribou in 1900. he was a member of the Modern Woodman of America & Odd Fellows. He was also a member of the canon of Fort Fairfield who attended the funeral in a body.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the United Baptist Church by Rev. John H. MacGorman assisted by Rev. Pringle from the Scotch Colony N.B. Beautiful music was rendered by the male quartet consisting of Clyde Morgan, James Miller, Warren Ellingwood and Elisha Hain. The many beautiful flowers were a silent tribute to the esteem in which he was held.
The bearers were Harry Ahern, Merle Hale, Steward Estabrook, Clarence Wayne, Clinton Drake and Hal Cushman, all members of the Odd Fellows Hall. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Bishop, four daughters: Mrs. Carrie McNeal of Easton; Mrs. William Castonguay; Mrs Mae Pelletier and Miss Ellen Bishop of Caribou. Six grandchildren: Delores and Carolyn Castonguay; Patricia and Clarice Pelletier all of Caribou; Joyce McNeal of Boston and Donald McNeal in the U.S. Marines Balboa, Panama. Three brothers: Samuel B. Bishop; Freemont :Freeme: Bishop & Frank Bishop all of Caribou
