Obituary:
Lois Marie (Hawk) Slizoski, of Ewing, NE., passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital, O'Neill, NE. Lois was born on November 20, 1929 to John Hawk and Daisy Sholes on a farm near Ewing NE.
Lois attended school in Ewing, NE. and graduated from high school there with the class of 1947. After graduation she taught grade school for one year near Ewing, NE. Lois then moved to Omaha, NE., where she worked at a packing house.
On February 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to John Virgil Slizoski at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing, NE. The couple continued to live in Omaha, NE. for a short time before returning to the Ewing, NE. area. They farmed and ranched in a few different places near Ewing, NE. before settling on the "Slizoski" farm southwest of Ewing, NE. in 1971.
John and Lois farmed, operated a dairy farm, and raised livestock there for many years. Lois worked hard on the farm and her whole life was dedicated to making a living and raising her "girls".
She enjoyed painting, putting puzzles together, and playing cards in her free time. Lois suffered from macular eye degeneration and as she grew older she could no longer see good enough to do the things she enjoyed in life. Talking to her family and friends on the phone and listening to KBRX radio became very important to her. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.
Lois is survived by daughter: Cindy and husband Chuck Ritz of Comstock, NE., Frances Anson of Ewing, NE., Susan Wright of Ewing, NE., Rita and husband Terry of Ewing, NE. and Gina and husband Kevin of Ewing, NE.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Marvin and wife Barb Hawk of Orchard, NE. and Jim Hawk of Hastings, NE.; sister, Sharon and husband Arnold Frahm of Norfolk, NE. and close friends Lynda Puls, Cheryl Thramer, Lynda Fry, Mary Ann Biddlecome, & Maxine Koenig.
Lois was preceded in death by: parents; husband, John Virgil Slizoski; sister, Shirley Mori; brothers Vearl, Gail, and Jack Hawk.
Burial was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Ewing, NE.
