Thomas J Strope, 82, Meta, died Dec. 10, 2000, at St Mary's Health Center. He was born April 15, 1918, in St Thomas, a son of Christpher and Anna Ortbals Strope. He was married June 17, 1944, in Folk, to Flora Cassmeyer, who survives at the home.

An Army Veteran of WW II, he received a Bronze Star. He worked as an electrician for 28 years with McDonnell- Douglas in St Louis.

He was a member of St Cecilia Catholic Church, Meta, where he was a communion minister. He was a senior member of the St Thomas Knights of Columbus Council 2149 and a member of Argyle VFW Post 8947.

Other survivors include: one son, Thomas W Strope, Overland; one daughter, Mary Kay Strope, Kirkwood; two sisters, Agatha Luebbering and Christine Luebbering, both of Jefferson City; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11am Wednesday at St Cecilia Catholic Church. The Rev John Schutty will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in St Cecilia Cemetery.
