Officials Attend McGuirk Funeral - Solemn Mass Celebrated - Nephews Bearers

The funeral of Catherine E. McGuirk was held this morning in her home, 27 Thomas Street. A solemn high mass of requiem was offered in St. Paul's Church at 9 o'clock. The Rev. John D. McGann, pastor, was the celebrant, the Rev. John W. Curtin was deacon, and the Rev. Francis J. Sullivan, sub-deacon. The Rev. Thomas McGuirk, M.L., of Hartford, Conn., a nephew of the deceased, and the Rev. John W. Hardiman, of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Holyoke, were seated in the sanctuary during the mass. The banner of the Sacred Heart Sodality of the church was draped in the sanctuary.

The choir, under the direction of John Mullaney, organist, sang the Gregorian mass of requiem. Solos during the mass were sung by Gertrude Considine and Rose Kane. At the close of the mass, Mr. Mullaney played "Largo" as a recessional.

Present at the mass were Rep. Edward J. Kelly, former Rep. Joseph W. Leyden, Registrar of Voters Thomas J. Degnan, and Inspector James D. Moynihan of the Department of Public Safety. The bearers were Charles E., Francis A., George J., Edward E., and William I. McGuirk of Worcester, and George J. McGuirk, Jr. of Fitchburg, all nephews of the deceased. Interment, in charge of McCrea & Sons, was in St. John's Cemetery, where the Rev. Fr. McGuirk, assisted by Frs. Hariman and Sullivan, conducted committal services..
