BURRESS, MILDRED PARDUE - 90, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday (July 14, 1999) at Hillside Manor following a two-year illness. A native of South Carolina, she graduated from Columbia College with a degree in Music. She taught piano and voice for many years in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, where she was Music Director at The Ware Shoals Methodist Church. Mrs. Burrell moved to Knoxville in 1979 and to Kingsport in 1979, where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was the daughter of the late Clara Elizabeth (Ergle) and William Atticus Pardue of Trenton, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Burress in 1976; brothers, Herbert and W.A. Pardue and an infant daughter. She is survived by a daughter, Claire Burress of Charleston, SC; a son, William Reuben Burress, Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Angela, Howard Rhame and Ashley Chapman of Charleston, SC, Jennifer and Phillip Burress of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Sara Pardue of Kingsport; niece, Betsy Pardue Harrison and husband, Roscoe, of Kingsport; nephew, William A. Pardue and wife, Pat, of Greenville, SC. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday in The Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, downtown Kingsport with Rev. Beth Yarborough officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
