Elizabeth Cooke Evans, died at the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Anderson, Sunday evening, March 26, 1899. Mrs Elizabeth Cooke Evans, in the 90th year of her age.
She was the daughter of Stephen and Isabelle Cooke and was born on Jul 24, 1809 in Chester Co., Pennsylvania where her early life was spent. She married, when quite young, Thomas Kirkpatrick of Chester Co. After his death, she married Evan Evans, and later moved to Nauvoo, Ill., where her husband died. Before leaving Pennsylvania she had joined the "Mormon" Church. She left Nauvoo with the "Mormon" emigration, going to Winter Quarters and Council Bluffs, Iowa. She married there, Wm. Clarke, and with her family emigrated in 1856 to Salt Lake City. In 1857 she moved to Mount Pleasant, Utah. For two years previous to her death she resided with her daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Anderson of Salt Lake City.
