Truly, he wanted to become a minister, but the church didn't let him into the program because his voice didn't carry and it was before microphones. Years later, following their daughter LuAnn's example, they left the SDA church and began attending a christian church on Sundays.
Rolland became a carpenter until his eyesight gave out.

Rolland didn't have a strong voice so finally decided against being a preacher (his health wasn't too stout). Truly, he wanted to become a minister, but the church didn't let him into the program because his voice didn't carry and it was before microphones. His wife Ruth could have accompanied him on the piano and helped out in his ministry, but it was not to be. Years later, following their daughter LuAnn's example, they left the SDA church and began attending a christian church on Sundays.
Rolland became a carpenter until his eyesight gave out.
Rolland and Ruth met at Walla Walla College.
