Ingaba was a woman who sacrificed her life and pleasures for others. When she was a girl, she was called to care for an invalid Aunt and from that day on until she was 90 yrs old, each day of her life was spent by the bedside of the sick and afflicited in the family. She buried every member of her family. Ingaba was almost 100 yrs old and looked to be a woman of 55. Her hair was dark, her figure straight, health good, and her memory was wonderful. With pride for her long life of self sacrifice, wonderful intellect, and christian example she set for others. Ingaba died at the age of 99. Cause of death, natural.

She is credited in history books for giving "Oakland," Garrett County, MD its name. The town was founded by her father Isaac McCarty on his tract of farmland there in 1849. The family later moved west to Iowa.
