Edward L. Sipes Sr. , Mitchell
MITCHELL - Edward L. Sipes Sr., 93, formerly of Marion, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday at home.
Mr. Sipes was born in Martin County, the son of the late William Dennis and Della (Shoemaker) Sipes. He married Charlotte Kohlmorgen on Dec. 24, 1979. She survives.
He retired from Marion's General Motors plant. He was an Army veteran of World War II and also served with the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church, White River Masonic Lodge 332 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
Additional survivors include sons, Edward L. (Betsy) Sipes Jr., Marion, and Leslie (Susan) Sipes, Fort Wayne; daughters, Maxine (Gary) Hiatt and Penny (Troy) Hilton, both of Marion, Lynda (Sonny) Cunningham, Pflu-gerville, Tx., and Letha (Brian) Stanton, Muncie; stepsons, Melvin Eric (Betty) Blue, Macclenny, Fla., and Kevin (Susan) Blue, Muncie; brothers, Richard Sipes, Anderson, and Dale Sipes, Greenfield; sisters, Maude Dilley, Indianapolis, and Helen Morris, Knightstown; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by brothers, Glessner, Chauncey, Delmar, Arthur, John, Willard, Leroy, Chester, Ora and Kenneth Sipes; sisters, Laura Cockerham and Fern Jackson; and a grandson, Marcus (Find A Grave Memorial# 10451940).
A memorial service conducted by the White River Masonic Lodge 332 F&AM will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Chastain Funeral Home, 705 W. Warren St.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to The Angel Foundation, Hoosier Uplands Hospice or to Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.

There will be a memorial service for Edward Sipes at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4th, at Chastain Funeral Home.
