Ezekiel Boggs Jr was the son of Ezekiel Boggs and Jane Johnson. He married Mary Ann Tipton on December 17 1801 in Belmont County, Ohio. They had eleven known children.

His year of birth is uncertain. It has been variously reported as 1771 and 1779. But there is no disagreement on the death date - it is March 17 1850. He does not appear on the 1850 census, but his wife Mary does and she is a widow. His gravestone is broken, but the inscription seems to say that he died March __ 1850 aged 81 YRS 5 MOS. 9 Dys. That would suggest a birthdate of October 8 1768. If the date is early then he was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania. If he was born in 1779 then it would have been in present day West Virginia.

Ezekiel Boggs Sr. and family moved from Chester County, Pennsylvania to West Augusta (Ohio) County, (now West) Virginia in the 1770's where he purchased land along Wheeling Creek in 1788. Ezekiel Sr. was one of the early settlers of the Wheeling area near the Ohio River, along with the McColloch, Zane, Caldwell, Martin, and Wetzel families. He most likely served in the Revolutionary War in both eastern Pennsylvania and western Virginia, probably as one of the "Frontier Rangers" or defenders of Fort Van Metre (later Fort Henry) at the mouth of Wheeling Creek in 1782. Ezekiel Jr's sister Alice or "Alcy" Boggs married Abram McColloch, son of Major Samuel McColloch, commander of Fort Van Metre. After his wife's death in 1806, Ezekiel Sr. migrated to Belmont County, Ohio with several of his children and their families. He died there in 1815.

Ezekiel Jr and his siblings are beneficiaries in his father's will, probated in 1815 (Belmont County Will Book A, pg 179.) He is found in Richland Township, Belmont County, Ohio on the 1820 and 1830 censuses. On the 1840 census he is in New Castle Township, Coshocton County, Ohio.

A paragraph from "History of Coshocton County, Ohio: its past and present, 1740-1881", page 585: "A Presbyterian church once existed in New Guilford. A house of worship was built in 1837 or 1838, and occupied some twenty years, when the organization dissolved. Connected with it were Andrew and Samuel McCammant, Harvey Hoss, Ezekiel Boggs, George Knight, Nathaniel Herron and others. The building was removed only two or three years ago." (George Knight was a son-in-law of Ezekiel Boggs - he married Keziah Jane Boggs.)

Ezekiel Jr. and Mary are buried in the New Guilford Cemetery. His will was written in 1846 and probated in 1850 in Coshocton County.
