Mrs. Emma Blanchard's Death Occurred Thursday

Emma Estella Richards was born at Providence, R.I., June 16, 1846, and died at her home in Delphos, Kansas, September 24, 1925, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 8 days.

When she was a girl, she went with her parents to live in Canada. This was her home for several years when she again moved back to New York. In 1861 she was married to Robert Boucher at Auburn, New York. Five years later, Mr. and Mrs. Boucher moved to Minnesota, which became their home until 1870, when they came to Kansas and homesteaded just east of Delphos.

In these early years, Mr. and Mrs. Boucher were baptized and came into the Methodist Church. Three children were born to them, Effie, Otis and Charles. The two survive. Charles passed to the Great Beyond.

After many years, Mrs. Boucher was married to J.N. Blanchard at Delphos in 1883. To this union two children were born, Millard and Joy. Millard died at the age of 23 years. The husband and father died in 1908.

Mrs. Blanchard was one of the pioneers of this country and has known the hardships of the early days. Because of her genial disposition and good cheer, she has made a host of friends who will miss her. They testify to her good deeds. For the past 40 years she has been a member of the Spiritualist Society of Delphos. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge.

Mrs. Blanchard has been in failing health for the last few years, and yet the end came rather suddenly. Three children mourn her death: Mrs. Effie Kinsey of Wichita Falls, Texas, Otis L. Boucher of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Joy R. Blanchard of Snyder, Oklahoma. There is also a half sister, Mrs. Mary Lester, and a half brother, John Kuykendall of New York; and other relatives and friends who will miss the kind face of Mother Blanchard.

The funeral was held at the home Saturday, September 26, being conducted by Rev. J.G. Roberts. At the cemetery the Rebekahs had charge of the service. The body was laid to rest in the Delphos Cemetery.
