Mrs. Batman was the daughter of the late Arthur Henry & Nellie Mati Tower Flanigan, born in Milltown, on May 12, 1906.
The former Anita Flanigan, she was a retired teacher having taught schools at Paoli, Marengo, English, Hardinsburg and Burney. She had taught music, art, English and elementary classes.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church where served as organist for many years, a life member of the United Methodist Women's group and a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her husband, Robert S. Batman whom she married at New Middletown, Kentucky on May 7, 1936; two daughters, Sara Beth Combs, of English, and Roberts (Jane) Tillery, of Indianapolis; a brothers, Maurice Melton Flanigan, of Bloomington; two sisters, Edna Neimeyer, Pensacola, Florida, and Martha Jane Flanigan, of English; six grandchildren, Laura Moore, of Indianapolis, Karen Byerly, of Milltown, Jon Combs, of Marengo, Brian Combs, of, Louisville, Ky. Tom Tillery, of, Ted Tillery, of Indianapolis and two great-grandchildren, Jason Byerly, of Milltown, Trevor Tillery, of. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Paul and Carl Tower Flanigan, and two grandsons, Kenneth David and Timothy Paul Combs.
Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery. Dillman-Green Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
