Elrich D. Weathers, 23, of Marengo, who was operated on for paralysis of the lower extremities February 17, 1902, died February 24, 1902.
He had been confined to his bed for nearly three years with no hope of ever recovering unless relieved by an operation. The operation showed that the spinal cord had been so injured that it had passed the stage of being benefited.
Survivors included his parents, Andrew & Almedia Campbell Weathers, a brother, Edwin R. Weathers, and three sisters, Miss Rachel Weathers, Mrs. Verna Wright and Mrs. Viva Cook, to mourn his departure.
Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.
