At 2 a.m. Tuesday, March, 19, 2013, the world lost a wonderful lady, but heaven gained a saint. Eula Bell Meadows, 99, took her last breath so that she could go sing and dance with the angels.

Eula was born Jan. 26, 1914, in Alma, Ark., to Lucy and Robert Dukes, joining her 4-year-old brother Roy. She lived in Oklahoma, Calif., then back to Arkansas where she met the love of her life, Clegg (Bud) Willis Meadows. They were married Oct. 21, 1931, in Vanburen, Ark. They moved to California where they had their first child, Norma, on Dec. 3, 1934. They later had Don on June 12, 1940; Karen on April 10, 1947; Sandy on Dec. 21, 1948; and her baby boy, Clegg Lee, on Nov. 29, 1953. In 1969, they moved to Kamiah, where they lived when Bud died Feb. 12, 1973.

Throughout her life she worked, at different times as a legal aide, a waitress/cook at a country club, restaurant owner and nursing home assistant. She also provided hospice care for her father, mother, brother and an elderly aunt, all while raising her family. When Bud had to retire with a disability, she also worked at various other jobs to help provide for her family.

Her family and her faith in God were always her purpose and her passion. She was never a religious woman but always a spiritual woman. If anyone in her family ever had a question about something in the Bible, all they had to do was call her. She not only read it every day, she memorized it. Up into her 98th year, she still knelt beside her bed and prayed for each and every one of her family members.

She lived the last 11 years at Juniper Meadows assisted living in Lewiston. She loved to hand-sew quilts and read Christian romance novels, and she was always up for ice cream, going for a drive or a good meal out.

Greeting her in heaven were her parents, Lucy and Robert Dukes; brother Roy Dukes; an infant brother; daughters Norma Hall and Karen Wilhite; and grandchildren Daniel Hall and Christy Meadows.

Survivors names omitted per findagrave policy.

God truly blessed us with Eula Bell Dukes Meadows, and she will forever be in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday (Good Friday) at the Kamiah Cemetery.
