Catherine Marie Fenix Goswick, 92, of Joplin, Mo., departed this life on Sunday evening, March 17, 2013, at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri after a recent decline in health.

Marie entered this life on May 17, 1920, in Joplin, to the late William Wallace and Minnie (Sullenger) Walker. She was a lifelong resident of Joplin.

On Aug. 18, 1940, she was united in marriage to Jay Dee Fenix and to this union one son was born. Jay Dee preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1988. On June 19, 1993, she married Frank Goswick and together they shared 18 years before his passing on Feb. 1, 2011.

Besides being a devoted homemaker she also was a member of the Local Meat Packers Union. She enjoyed working in her yard, shopping with her buddies and watching baseball. Marie was a longtime member of the Belleville Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Jay Dee Fenix and Frank Goswick; four brothers, Samuel "Bus", Joe, Jack and Jesse David Walker; and one sister, Margaret Fenix.

Marie is survived by her son, David Fenix and wife, Brenda, of Joplin; two grandchildren, Shawn Kreighbaum and Michael Fenix; two great-grandchildren, Paige Kreighbaum and Clay Fenix; two brothers, Don Walker, of Carl Junction, Mo., and Jim Walker, of Joplin; several close nieces and nephews, some of whom called her granny; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. C. Marie Fenix Goswick are at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Burial will follow in the Carl Junction Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Rod Walker, Wallace "Skipper" Walker, Jerry Walker, Tucker Fenix, Clay Fenix, Jaydon Gunnett, Michael Fenix, Shawn Kreighbaum, Paige Kreighbaum, Eddie Kreighbaum and Jana Walker. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the mortuary chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or the Arthritis Foundation and contributions may be left at the mortuary.
