James Edward Early

94, Indianapolis, passed away at home March 20, 2013. He was born September 10, 1918, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Daniel and Mauree (Cook) Early. He married Rosland (Archer) Early, who preceded him in passing September 25, 2007.

Jim served in the United States Navy in World War II. He retired as Vice-President from Hamblen Gage, and later returned to work for Central Hardware, Marten House, and Lincoln Tech. He was a member of Evergreen-Oriental lodge #500 F&AM, Scottish Rite, and the Shriner's. He loved to build things and work around the house. He had a passion and a vast knowledge of tools. Jim was an avid sports fan, primarily for the Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and the Indiana Fever.

He is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Jack) Prussell and Susan (Mark) Golden; grandchildren, Daniel James Cummings, Kari (Jeff) Smilko, Alex Golden, Michael Decker; two great granddaughters, Tiffany and Bridget Smilko. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael James Early and Jimmy Early.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of service.
