WOOSTER -- Gladys E. Morris, 96, formerly of 431 Saybolt Ave., Apt. D, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster, after a long illness. She had been a resident since October 2002.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with Pastor O.J. Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster; the Alzheimer's Association, 345 N. Market St., Wooster; or to First Church of God Youth Program, 1953 Akron Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born May 16, 1906, in Bluffton to Charles and Cora (Ranes) Boutwell and married Eugene Morris on Feb. 4, 1971. He went to be with his Lord Aug. 14, 1985.
She moved to Wooster on April 1, 1986, from Bingen, Wash., where with her husband, was in charge of the Senior Citizens dances for 12 years before moving to Wooster.
She was a devoted homemaker and had attended Congress Community Church. She was a member of First Church of God, Wooster, where she was baptized and attended a Bible class. She was also a member of American Legion Post 7 of Tucson, Ariz., and was a volunteer weekly at Wayne County Care Center, Wooster.
She enjoyed walking, crocheting, sewing and sending inspirational cards and letters to those in need.
Surviving are children, Harold (Nora) Thompson of Kelso, Wash., Christian (Judy) Thompson of Middleton, Idaho and Juanita I. Vitaro of Wooster; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters.
