Vance Hillary Hefner, Jr. of Hickory, beloved husband, father and grandfather entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 14, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer spanning 20 years.
Vance was born in Hickory on March 31, 1940, the son of Vance Hillary Hefner, Sr. and Margaret Kuhn Hefner. After graduating from Claremont High School he continued his education at Lenoir-Rhyne College and Kings College. At Kings College he met the love of his life, Jean Long Hefner, his devoted wife of 48 years. Vance spent his professional life in the food service industry and was employed by Institution Food House for over 41 years, serving as a buyer and sales representative.
The family will have a private inurnment service in the St. Andrew's Memorial Garden on Sunday, March 17, 2013. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 PM.
