Self-employed businessman Lawson J. "Baldy" Zent, 85, died at 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday at Miller's Marry Manor in Huntington.

He was the former owner of Lime City Mfg. in Huntington. His previous occupations were at Lime City Welding and Zent Drilling, both in Huntington.

Born May 26, 1911 in Roanoke, he was a son of Ervin and Ethel Fugate Zent. His first marriage was to Virginia Kocher on Oct. 30, 1936 in Roanoke. She died March 15, 1979. His second marriage was to Effie Beal Maples on Sept. 25, 1980 in Wabash.

He was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church ion Huntington and of Art Smith Aviation Hall of Fame at Bauer Field.

Calling will be from 1 to 4 and 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Stephen Holdzkom will officiate the rites.

Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Huntington. Memorials to American Diabetes Assoc. or to the church.
